THE STORY BEHIND THE 23
It started at a mall in 2021.
I saw someone walking by wearing a Chicago Bulls #23 jersey—one of the most iconic jerseys in sports history.
And a thought immediately came to me:
Why can’t Christian clothing be cool like that?
Why couldn’t something rooted in Scripture have the same kind of boldness? The same kind of presence? Something you’d actually be excited to wear?
Then it clicked.
23.
Not just a number on a jersey.
Psalm 23.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
I went home with an idea: take the visual inspiration of one of the most recognizable numbers in sports culture and connect it with one of the most beloved chapters in the Bible.
That idea became the Psalm 23 design.
What started as a simple idea five years ago has since been worn by people around the world, with God Motive reaching customers in approximately 40 countries.
Over the years, we’ve watched similar concepts appear across the Christian apparel space. But for God Motive, this isn't a trend we jumped on.
This is part of our story.
